Swim Programs

At Walden, we teach both Red Cross and Royal Life programs and implement the new Red Cross badge system. Our oldest campers who have accomplished the new Level 10 then move onto the Royal Life system and work towards their Bronze Medallion and Bronze Cross.

We hope that this program benefits camper’s swim progress by allowing them to move from the old AquaQuest swim program to the New Red Cross Swim Program seamlessly and build on the swimming skills they have already learned. Campers will then move to the Royal Life program where the emphasis shifts from strokes to lifesaving.

Our Walden swim staff will be completing and mailing out your camper’s swim report shortly after their camp session ends to help you with enrolling them in future swim programs. We hope that enrolling for August and September swim programs will be made easier for our July and Explorer campers when parents have access to the most current information about their child’s swim progress.

Home and Away campers might receive some instruction but because of the length and timing of their session, there are only a handful of instructional swim opportunities.  Thus, emphasis will be placed on creating a positive lake-swimming experience for kids rather than completion of a badge.

Should you have any questions or concerns about our swim programs, please feel free to leave a message for our Waterfront Director, Seth Cole at our camp office.
